Should we tell our school nurse or camp nurse if we find out at home that our child has Lice? Good Question. One of the reasons parents are reluctant to share that their child has Head Lice, is that they are afraid their child will be kicked out of school or camp and humiliated by the school nurse, camp nurse, counselors, teachers & students. This prevents many parents from sharing with their nurse when they discover Head Lice on their child. Nurses appreciate being told if a child has Head Lice, so they can send out a “Lice Letter” to all families instructing them to check their own children for Head Lice. Most nurses have many ill children that they are responsible for and Head Lice is very time consuming and stressful for nurses.
