Lice Treatment Removal Information in Boston Area

My Dog is scratching. Could she have lice?

13 July

Fear not. Dogs don’t get lice. Head Lice are an “obligate” parasite. Obligate means they can only survive on one specific species.  That species would be us, humans. Head Lice have very specific environmental needs. The human scalp is the only place on the planet that has the right combination of temperature, humidity, light, pH, hormones, food (human blood) and the right place to lay eggs (human hair shaft) to support a successful head lice colony. In addition humans continue to use ineffective head lice removal treatments, thereby making the human scalp an even more appealing host environment for head lice! Dogs have their very own parasites to keep them busy such as fleas and ticks.
