Mozart’s mother killed by a louse
We are heading out to the BSO tonight to hear Mozart, Prokofiev and Haydn. Did you know that Mozart’s mother Anna Maria Mozart died at age 57 from epidemic louse-borne typhus? Yet another reason people are afraid of lice, because 200 years ago, the OTHER kind of lice, body lice, carried typhus fever which could be fatal. Have no fear in 2013, if your child gets lice, it is not body lice, but head lice, the two variants of human lice have different DNA.
